Athletics is run by our very own Paralympic sprinter Jacob Phillips where athletes will learn the fundamental skills for running, jumping, and throwing. Through this programme, we are hoping to build confidence and eventually, connect with athletics clubs around the region. It is also a great oppourtunity to improve skills in preparation for the Halberg Junior Games!

Boccia is a test of muscle control and accuracy, requiring high focus and concentration. The goal of the sport is to throw or bowl your ball so they land as close as possible to the ‘jack’ ball, similar to petanque. Boccia is open to athletes with a high level of cerebral palsy or related neurological conditions. Players can compete as a team or individually. It is played indoors on a smooth surface. Athletes throw, kick or use ramps to propel the ball onto the wooden court.

Junior sessions are 3:45-4:45pm and Senior sessions are 5:30-7:00 every Wednesday at the Sargood Centre

The Junior Disability Games aims to provide high-quality sporting opportunities for young disabled people. They are specifically designed for physically disabled young people. It provides the youth with a pathway to the Paralympic Games as well as provides them with an oppourtunity to experience participation and enjoyment through being physically active.

Halberg Games 2020 have been postponed and will now be 23-25th April 2021! Lock it in!

If you're interested in the Halberg Games, get in contact with Kelly our Sport Development Officer and check out our Facebook page:

ParaFed Otago Swimming Squad is about improving your swimming skills and becoming more confident in the water. People or all ages and abilities are welcome to come along, however this is not a learn to swim squad so some prior experience in the water is needed.

Swimming sessions are the last Sunday of every month at Moana Pool from 4-5pm

Wheelchair Basketball is similar to able-bodied basketball, the size of the court, hoops, and balls are all the same. The only difference is that a player must dribble the ball every two pushes of their wheelchair; otherwise, that player will be called for traveling.

Wheelchair Rugby is a game that is specifically designed for tetraplegics (three limbs are affected by the disability). It is a cross between basketball, American football, and ice hockey. The game is played on a basketball court, and four players per team compete at any one time.

Trainings are Tuesdays 5:30-7:00 at the Edgar Centre
