Adam Hall: Hall of Fame

Last week the Mayor of Dunedin caught up with Adam Hall to acknowledge his incredible achievements at the recent PyeongChang Winter Paralympics.

ParaFed Otago would also like to take this opportunity to formally congratulate Adam on his amazing performance at the Games, earning himself a gold in the Slalom and a bronze in the Super Combined, as well as becoming the only New Zealander to ever receive the Whang Youn Dai Achievement Award.

This award is presented to one male and one female athlete at each Paralympics who best exemplify the spirit of the games. Winning this award shows that Adam is not just an amazing athlete, but also an amazing leader, role model and human being and we could not be prouder of him.

Adam is a born and bred Dunedunite. He began skiing at the age of six, switched to snowboarding at age nine, but switched back to skiing in order to compete in the 2006 Paralympic Winter Games.

Adam has represented New Zealand four times at the Paralympic Games in, Torino 2006, Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014 and PyeongChang 2018, taking the gold medal in standing Slalom at both the PyeongChang and Vancouver Paralympics.

In 2011, Adam was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZOM) in the Queen's Birthday Honours, for services to sport.

In 2016, he won gold medals in Downhill and Slalom at the World Cup finals in Aspen and finished the season ranked third overall in the world for men’s standing Super-G and Downhill Standing.

He also won a bronze medal at the 2017 Para Alpine Skiing World Championships in Italy.
