Volunteer of the Month: Caity
We are excited to announce our September Volunteer of the Month, Caity Dore, for all the effort she has
put into running athletics over the past year and for all her help organising and managing the Otago Southland Halberg Games team. We couldn’t do what we do without you and your hard work is greatly appreciated!

A little more from Caity:
How long have you been volunteering for ParaFed Otago?
"I have been a volunteer for Parafed Otago for two years and for the past year I have been a member of the committee."
What sports or activities have you been involved with?
"I have been involved in the Athletics development programme, have been coaching Parafed athletic sessions for a year and a half, I also have been involved in running the kid’s youth club, and organising the JDG build up training sessions, and have also been a manager for the Otago Southland Junior Disability Games team for the past two years."
What do you love about working with ParaFed Otago and their members?
"I really love having the opportunity to provide fun, and knowledgeable sessions to the kids, I love motivating and sharing my passion of athletics with the members, and really just seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces, Parafed Otago have some amazing members, and I love seeing them succeed and enjoy sport."
What has been your own personal greatest achievement?
"My own greatest personal achievement is that I represented New Zealand in the 2016 Rio Paralympics, I was selected on to the Athletics team, and competed in F37 Women’s Javelin and placed 7th."
What are your sport and recreation passions?
"My sporting passion is 100% Athletics, I love javelin and shot put."
What has been your most memorable moment while working for ParaFed Otago?
"My most memorable experience whilst working for Parafed Otago was being a manager for the JDG team, it was an amazing opportunity, and so memorable to share that experience with the kids, everyone did so well, the team spirit was incredible, and seeing all the kids enjoying themselves, being happy and getting involved with all the sports and games it was really special."
